The Total Percussionist was started in 2012 to provide practical strategies for students and band directors for all things percussion.

Eric Rucker

In 2002, Eric attended West Virginia University on a full scholarship for music education. Eric studied under Paul Moore III, (Cincinnati Orchestra) George Willis (Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) and Al Wrublesky (Pittsburgh Ballet and Opera Orchestra). During this time, he performed on many WVU orchestra, wind ensemble, and percussion ensemble recordings, including commissioned compositions written for the ensembles. Eric was also a four year member and section leader for the Sudler Trophy winning Pride of West Virginia Marching Band drumline.
Eric currently serves as director of percussion at 6 schools throughout the South Florida area, including Bak Middle School of the Arts, Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Wellington High School and Palm Beach Central High School. His award winning groups have performed with artists such as Dr. Thomas Burritt and Mark Ford. Check out some of his groups here.

Adam Hopper

Adam Hopper

Adam Hopper is currently the director of bands at Southern Middle School, and the director of percussion at Southwestern High School in Somerset, Kentucky. Mr. Hopper has written and arranged percussion works for schools at the middle, high, and university levels in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio as well as for groups in the W.G.I and Tri-State circuits. He holds a B.M. in Music Education and M.M. in Percussion Performance from Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky. Mr. Hopper also holds professional affiliations with NAFME, PAS, and KMEA. Mr. Hopper is a proud endorser of Vic Firth drumsticks and mallets, and BDL Pads.

He currently resides in Somerset, Kentucky with his lovely wife Sarah, and their two cats Thelonious and Bossa.
